Got The Best Gingerbread House In Berlin? Send It To The Library

The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is fully into its 13th annual Gingerbread House Contest, with entries due by Friday.

BERLIN, CT — Friday is the last day to drop off your edible holiday creations as part of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library's 13th annual Gingerbread House Contest.

This annual tradition has showcased the creativity of community members in their endeavors to build the perfect miniature shelter out of gingerbread, candy canes and icing.

The contest features different categories for different age groups, including: adults; teens; groups; businesses and clubs; and children (individuals or groups aged 10 and under).

Meanwhile, the rules are simple, according to the library:

• They must be, mostly, edible.

• Bases for the entries cannot exceed 24 inches by 24 inches.

• Store-bought kits are allowed.

• No electricity may be used.

After the last entries are submitted on Friday, Dec. 16, the public will be able to visit the library Dec. 17-21 to register votes for their favorites.

On Thursday, Dec. 22, the winners will be announced and, then, the library will close for the holiday weekend.

Participants, then, have until Thursday, Dec. 29, to pick up their gingerbread houses if they wish.
