Berlin Obituary: Catherine Meigs, 86

Condolences to her family and friends.

On Friday, July 29, 2016, Catherine A (Lassen) Meigs, "Cathy" "Sis", 86, died at home with her family by her side.

She was born in Glastonbury, grew up in Rocky Hill and was a Berlin resident for almost 60 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Judson Meigs. She was a farmer her entire life and, together with Jud, they ran their dairy farm in Berlin. Cathy loved working in her massive flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed spending her evenings doing jigsaw puzzles, cross-stitching, quilting, and crocheting. Cathy had a very special way with all animals … her cows, cats, goose, goat, and her many Golden Retrievers. She spent hours with her numerous friends who came to visit and also phoned. Her visitors were always treated to her home-made pies and cookies, which were always on the table waiting for them.

Though the farm life was not an easy one, she always felt blessed with her wonderful husband and her family. Besides the undying love she provided to Laura Ellen and Kathleen, she felt the same for her sons-in-law, Tom and Joe. And, no grandmother could possibly love a grandchild as much as she loved her Thomas. Cathy leaves her daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Ellen and Tom Perzanowski of Southington, and Kathleen and Joseph Badolato of New Britain; and her adored grandson Thomas Judson Perzanowski. She also leaves her much loved baby sister and brother-in law, Laura and John St. Paul, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Marilyn Meigs of Berlin, and Robert Meigs of Cleveland, OH; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents Carl M. and Katherine (Olesen) Lassen, a brother Carl M. Lassen, Jr., and a sister, Lorena Millette.
