
Robert D. Johnson, Sr., 92, of Unionville, formerly of New Britain, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2106 at Palm Garden Nursing Home, Vero Beach, FL, with his son by his side.
Robert was born on September 12, 1923 to the late Samuel and Anna Johansen. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Verrier) Johnson. Robert was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Army under General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge. Robert worked at Johnson's Dairy, Berlin, from 1945-1969 and at Sherri Cup, Berlin, from 1971-2003 retiring at the age of 80. He was an "avid collector" enjoying that hobby until his death. Robert liked to winter in Vero Beach, FL and was especially fond of his summers at Dunes Park, RI.
He is survived by his son, Robert D. Johnson, Jr., of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Margelot and Helen Verrier; Rita's (wife's) Goddaughter, Rachel (Frank) Carfora, sons Luke & Julian; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Virginia Johnson, Effie Olsen and Beatrice Bobowski; three brothers, Earl Johansen, Otto Johnson and Bill Johansen.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Sunday, April 3 from 5-7 PM at George's Pizza, 9 School St., Unionville.
