
William Choma, Sr., 93, husband of the late Inez (Zanetti) Choma, 96, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016. His wife of 70 years, Inez, passed away on July 13, 2016.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Michael Sr. and Anastasia (Sydor) Choma. He was raised in New Britain and made Kensington his home since 1952.
A World War II veteran, he served in the US Marine Corps, earning the rank of Lance Corporal and fought in the Northern Solomon Islands where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign.
Until his retirement, he was a Carpenter and was a member of Carpenter’s Union Local 24.

William is survived by a sister Pauline (Choma) Demetro, a daughter: Virginia (Choma) Nelson and her husband Michael of North Chelmsford, MA; three sons: William Jr. of East Hampton, Peter and his wife Karen of Rochester, MN, and Richard and his wife Kathy of Berlin. Numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive him. A son predeceased him, Michael, along with three brothers: Peter, John, and Michael Jr and a sister Anna.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 3rd, at 10 AM at St Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd. New Britain. Burial will follow at Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
