Berlin Paddling Event To Help The Disabled Get Jobs

The Silver Lake John Messinger Memorial Race Sunday will raise money for a nonprofit helping the disabled get jobs.

BERLIN, CT — Grab a paddle and a canoe/kayak and hit the river Sunday for an enjoyable autumn journey on Silver Lake in Berlin ... and help out a very special nonprofit in the process.

Kuhn Employment Opportunities' is the beneficiary of the Silver Lake John Messinger Memorial Race and the "Kayak for Candy" event on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 10:55 a.m.

Kuhn is a Meriden-based nonprofit whose charge is to train and provide employment opportunities for those with physical and emotional disabilities.

It will feature both a competitive kayak/canoe race and a leisurely kayak ride event, with participants gathering at the Silver Lake boat launch area prior to the event at 282 Norton Lane.
