Berlin PD's Canine Unit Ready to Hit the Streets

Officer Brandon Lagueux and his canine partner Bane graduated from the Connecticut State Police Academy.

Starting June 1, there’s a new officer helping to patrol the streets of Berlin.

Officer Brandon Lagueux and his new partner, canine Bane, were among 12 canine teams that graduated Thursday from the Connecticut State Police Canine Training Unit.

The canine teams are all trained to work patrol and have been trained in the basic areas of tracking, handler protection, evidence recovery, building searches, obedience, and classroom education. For the canines, all German Shepherds, the graduation marks the culmination of a 14-week rigorous and intense training course.
