Berlin Police: Car Burglaries On The Rise Again

BERLIN, CT - Berlin police said that larcenies from vehicles and vehicle thefts are on the rise again. Often these thieves target unlocked cars and numerous Connecticut towns reported an uptick in burglaries in fall and winter of last year.

They recommend the following steps to protect your vehicle and your valuables from criminal activity:

-- Remove valuables from your vehicle or hide them from view.

-- Lock car doors and roll windows up.

-- Don't leave vehicles running and unattended (unless you have an automatic starter, of course.)

-- Report any suspicious activity when you see it. Do not wait until later!

-- Leave exterior lights on.

"We'll be bringing back the 9 P.M. routine to try to help remind you to lock up before bed," police said in a Facebook post. "Let's work together to try to reduce these crimes!"
