Berlin Police Union Gives Nod To Arata

BERLIN, CT – The police union representing Berlin officers has endorsed Republican state House hopeful Lou Arata of Meriden for the 83rd House race.

The 83rd House District, is composed of Berlin, Cheshire and Meriden.

The Berlin Police Union, Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 56, endorsed Arata, on Tuesday.

“Our membership believes that you will be a tremendous asset to the citizens of Berlin, Meriden and Cheshire, CT Law Enforcement Officers, and the State of Connecticut as a State Representative,” Sgt. John Flynn, the president of the Berlin Police Union, stated in a letter announcing the endorsement.

Earlier this month, Arata also gained the backing of the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police.

“I’m grateful that the brave members of Berlin’s police force have put their faith and support in me,” Arata said. “Policies put forward by the Democrat majority in Hartford have hampered our police officers, making it harder for them to do their jobs. They put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe, yet have to worry if a split-second decision made in the interest of protecting people, will cost them their livelihood. That’s something that needs to change if we want to make our neighborhoods safer.”

Arata is a former business owner and entrepreneur and has been appointed to several boards and commissions in Meriden.

He currently serves as the vice chairman of the public utilities commission in Meriden.

Incumbent state Rep. Catherine F. Abercrombie, D-Meriden, is not seeking re-election, with

Berlin Democratic town council member and attorney Jack Fazzino garnering the Dem nod to replace her.
