Berlin Ponds Slated For Water Treatments

Work is expected to start this week, with the town releasing information about what is and isn't allowed on the bodies of water.

BERLIN, CT — Two prominent bodies of water in town that are popular with fishermen will get a dose of herbicides/algaecides to help ensure they stay popular.

Berlin officials said Water & Wetland, LLC of Upton, Mass., will be conducting aquatic herbicide/algaecide applications for the control of nuisance and invasive weeds and algae at Paper Goods Pond and Railroad Pond in Berlin.

Paper Goods Pond is located on Hart and Harris streets and Railroad Pond is off Kensington Road.

Treatments are anticipated on or around Tuesday, July 16.

Monday, the Town of Berlin released information about the dos and don'ts regarding the treatments and what and when certain activities are allowed/not allowed.
