Berlin Resident Awards Her 21st HR Certification Scholarship to Yolanda Valentin
Andrea (Andy) Thiede, an HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut awarded her 21st HR certification scholarship to an HR manager in Berlin
Yolanda Valentin was recently selected as the recipient of the Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship. The scholarship was created by Andrea (Andy) Thiede, an HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut, with a passion for helping others in the HR field. Yolanda is a Human Resources Manager at a family-owned business in Berlin.
Yolanda was selected for the HR Certification Scholarship based on her commitment to enhance her HR career, and her passion for guiding people through their career paths and supporting their professional development. She will use the scholarship to test for the SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional) designation.
“Pursuing the SHRM-CP certification is more than a professional milestone—it’s a personal triumph. At over 50 years old, I want to prove that professional growth has no age limit,” said Yolanda. She added. “One of the most defining moments of my life came in my 40s, when I made the courageous decision to leave my family behind in Puerto Rico and start over in Connecticut. It was a leap into the unknown, driven by the hope of building a better future. The HR certification will help me deepen my knowledge and sharpen my skills to thrive in today’s ever-changing workplace. More importantly, it will empower me to contribute meaningfully to the continued success of the company I proudly serve, and to inspire others who, like me, are chasing bold dreams later in life.”

ABOUT THE ANDY THIEDE HR CERTIFICATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship was established in 2016 by Andrea (Andy) Thiede, an HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut, who is committed to giving back to the profession. The scholarship helps offset the expense of obtaining an advanced HR certification. To date, Andy has awarded 21 HR certification scholarships, totaling more than $10,000.
Andy is an HR Consultant with KardasLarson LLC, and HRACC’s (Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut) Director of Chapter Operations.
