Berlin School Names New Principal

A local elementary school has hired a new principal.

BERLIN, CT — The Berlin Board of Education has appointed Megan Sirois as the new principal of Emma Hart Willard Elementary School. The appointment will be effective as of July 31, according to a statement from the district.

Sirois has worked in the Berlin Public School District for 23 years. She has spent 21 of those years as a classroom teacher in grades one, two, and five. During her teaching tenure, she implemented programs such as reading and writing workshops and math investigations while using data-driven practices to differentiate instruction.

For the last two years, she has been a building-level administrator at Emma Hart Willard and Mary E. Griswold elementary schools. She is also an active member of numerous committees and work teams.

"We recognize Meg as a reflective practitioner, a collaborative administrator, and a true leader," the district said in a statement. "During her two years as a building leader, Meg has proven herself to be a dedicated and caring instructional leader."
