Berlin Unexpectedly Gets $158,000 in State Funds
The money came from the closeout of the McGee Middle School renovation over a decade ago.

Berlin just got some extra money from the state, and it wasn’t expecting it.
According to the New Britain Herald, the state recently finished an audit on the 10-year-old McGee Middle School renovation project, and what it found out was Berlin was owed some $158,000 in money it invested in the $6.5 million project.
Finance Director James Wren told the newspaper the funds went unspent, and the project preceded the current construction process in which a community is reimbursed only after submitting invoices. Mayor Adam Salina said the funds would go into the debt services account, the Heard reported.
