Berlin Voters To Decide on Proposed $80.8 Million Budget

Polls will be open Tuesday, April 28.

Berlin Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on the town’s proposed $80.83 million budget, which if approved, would increase the mill rate by 1.54 mills, to 30.46 mills.

The budget is $408,401 more than the town council originally approved because of reinstatement of money to the Board of Education’s request of $41.9 million, according to The Courant. The additional money would help retain some school athletic programs.

Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voters also will have a chance to answer an advisory question on whether the proposed budget is too high or too low which is to serve as a guideline to town officials, should the budget proposal be rejected.
