Berlin Will Soon Be Able to Save on Prescription Drugs

The town has decided to participate in a statewide program that offers residents discount cards for prescription drugs.

Some good news is coming to Berlin residents who may be uninsured and in need of prescription medicine.

Berlin has decided to participate in the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities prescription drug card program, allowing for residents to obtain discounts on medications when they visit the pharmacy, the New Britain Herald reported

Town Manager Denise McNair told the Herald the town became aware of the program over the winter and, since it costs nothing to the town, decided to participate.

The enrollment will be happening over the next six weeks.

CCM, which is made up of dozens of towns in the state, touts the advantages of the program on its website, saying it has saved Connecticut residents over $960,000 since it's implementation.

Some other area towns have also signed up for the program, including Middletown, Haddam, Portland and Wallingford.
