Berlin's New 'ChristmasTree Walk' Celebrates The Holidays

BERLIN, CT — Normally home to the Berlin Fair each autumn, the Berlin Lions Fairgrounds this weekend will host an inaugural event to celebrate the holiday season.

The Berlin Lions Club is hosting its first annual "Christmas Tree Walk" at the fairgrounds, which are at 430 Beckley Road, Berlin.

Staring last weekend from Dec. 1-3, the event will again take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8-10, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The star of the show, so to speak, is the brightly lit holiday decorations that will light up the fairgrounds with yuletide charm.

"This is a great opportunity to stroll the walkways of the brilliantly lit fairgrounds with family and friends, as the Lions Club transforms the fairgrounds into a Magical Winter Wonderland," wrote the Berlin Lions.

In addition, local businesses, organizations and groups set up Christmas tree displays throughout the grounds.

While there is no fee to enter, guests are asked to support several local charities and donation drives that will be on-site.

There is no fee to enter while Local Charities will be at the entrance accepting voluntary donations.

This weekend, the following donations are being sought:

• Friday, Dec. 8, Stuff a Cruiser — Berlin Police Department will be accepting toys or donations.

• Saturday, Dec. 9 — Berlin Food Bank accepting non-perishable food donations

• Sunday, Dec. 10 — the Salvation Army will be collecting donations.

On top of all that, Santa Claus himself will be at the event each day from 6 to 8 p.m. for picture taking and "to meet with all the little good boys and girls."

The Lions will provide complimentary snacks and hot beverages.
