Berlin's Top Scarecrow Named In 2023 Contest
The winning entry resembled a work of art as much as something to scare away pesky feathered fiends.

BERLIN, CT — The votes are in and Berlin senior citizens took the top prize in the annual 2023 Berlin Scarecrow Contest.
According to the town this week, the Berlin Senior Center's scarecrow was the winner in the contest, which featured local individuals, groups and organizations submitting entries.
The entry was do detailed, the finished product resembled a work of art as much as just something to scare away scavaging birds.

Key to the event was public participation, as voters were cast by community members in the weeks leading up to the Oct. 31 Halloween announcement.
"Thank you to everyone who made a scarecrow and everyone who voted," wrote the town.

Voting slips were available throughout key town hotspots like at the Berlin Community Center, Berlin Senior Center, Berlin-Peck Memorial Library and Berlin Town Hall.
Voting officially ended on Friday, Oct. 27.
