Bristol Student's Tablet Ignites, Burns Through Backpack
The school district is telling parents to cease using Lenovo tablets after one ignited and burned through a backpack.
BRISTOL, CT — A Bristol student's Lenovo tablet ignited Thursday afternoon, and the district is now telling parents to temporarily stop using the devices, FOX 61 reported. The tablets were distributed to students in pre-K through grade 3.
The district has contacted the manufacturer about the battery malfunction. A district official said in a letter to parents that the devices should be turned off and not charged, according to FOX 61.
Photos posted by a parent online show the tablet with burn marks as well as a burned backpack and protective sleeve.
