Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • On Sunday, May 13, Assumption College awarded 617 degrees during its 101st Commencement exercises held at the DCU Center in downtown Worcester, MA, in which speaker The Most Reverend Robert E. Barron, S.T.D., auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and evangelist who uses various forms of media, in particular social media, to share the Gospel message and one of the most-followed Catholics on social media, delivered the Commencement address. Local graduates included Claudia Davis of East Berlin and Reid Hilbie of Berlin.

Bucknell University, Lewisburg PA

  • Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2017-18 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition. Honorees from Berlin were Jason Corriveau, Class of 2018, and Nikhil Trivedi, Class of 2021.

Gettysburg College, Gettysburg PA

  • Of the 608 students who graduated from Gettysburg College on May 20, 2018, two were local students:
    Michael Burek of Berlin and Jelana Szymanski of Kensington.

  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute announced that Hannah Schulz of Berlin has been designated 'Outstanding Member of the Class of 2021'. With an outstanding academic record, Hannah is majoring in civil engineering and has participated in varsity track and cross country each term this year. She also has contributed to the concrete canoe project for ASCE. As a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma, Hannah headed a tutoring program for students at Elm Park Elementary School; she also served as an executive of the Food Recovery Network, which has helped feed and support families at Friendly House.
