BERLIN, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • The ever-relevant topic of immigration was on dramatic display from Oct. 11-15 when Eastern Connecticut State University premiered "Thread City," a unique performance that "told" stories of the immigrants who came to Willimantic to work in its historic thread mills. The dialogue-free play blended choreographed movement, visual projections and folky-electronic soundscapes to convey a heartfelt and historically representative tale of immigration in America. Among the students involved was Andrew Rich of Berlin, who acted in the ensemble and worked on the set construction crew. Rich majors in Theatre.

Goodwin College, East Hartford CT

  • Goodwin College's President's List for the summer 2017 session includes 225 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. Among them were Berlin residents Carla Mangiafico, Samantha Scalise and David Siegal.
  • Goodwin College announces that 731 students achieved Dean's List status for the summer 2017 session. Honorees from Berlin were David Balfore, Brittany Lukasik, Carla Mangiafico, Jacob Mongillo, Emily Relyea, Nickole Romeiko, Samantha Scalise and David Siegal. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.
