Championship Games Set for State High School Football

Eight teams survived the semifinal round of the Connecticut high school football playoffs Sunday afternoon, and with the closest scoring margin in any game being 14 points, all survived quite handily.

Some facts and figures about the eight schools who will be vying for state titles next weekend:

• Three No. 1 seeds remain: Greenwich (LL), Killingly (M), Ansonia (S)
• Two teams have a chance to repeat their 2016 championships: Darien (LL), Ansonia (S)
• One team is playing in its first state title contest: Joel Barlow (M)
• The Class S finalists, Ansonia and St. Joseph, have combined for 32 state championships.

Here are Sunday's results for the four classes, as well as title game previews. All championship games are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9 at sites and times to be announced.
