David Balkun, Retired Building Contractor
The Southington resident passed away Oct. 7 at the age of 66.

David Balkun, 66, of Southington, husband of Kathryn (Prestia) Balkun, passed away Wednesday (October 7, 2015) at his home.
A New Britain native and resident most of his life, Dave has been a Southington resident since 1996. A graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 1967, Dave was self employed as a Building Contractor and Home Inspector for over 25 years, retiring in 2012. He also owned A&S Package Store in New Britain for 6 years. Dave was a member of St. Thomas Church in Southington and was former Chairman of The City of New Britain Building Commission.

Besides his wife Kathryn, he leaves a son, David J. Balkun and his wife Rebecca of Bristol; a daughter, Sheri Amoroso and her husband Todd of Southington; his mother Louise (Kovalevich) Balkun of Southington; a brother, John Balkun III and his wife Christine also of Southington; a sister-in-law, Edie Balkun of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Alexandra and Anthony Amoroso, and Sydney and Spencer Balkun; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, John Balkun; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Balkun; and a brother George Balkun.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10 AM at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol Street, Southington, CT 06489. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Monday 4 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
