BERLIN, CT — Thanks to a generous donation from a local aerospace company, the Berlin Police Department will soon be able to expand its K-9 police dog program.

The BPD said last week that Kevin Budney and Budney Aerospace Inc. in Berlin donated enough funds to the BPD to add a third K-9 team to the department's police dog program.

"Mr. Budney and his company have been huge supporters of many Berlin PD Programs including K-9, DARE, and Dive Team for many years," wrote the BPD via FaceBook.

"Mr. Budney carries on this tradition in honor of his mother Judy Budney who died years ago but was a huge supporter of Berlin PD and all our programs, particularly the K-9 Program.

"All of us here at BPD sincerely thank Mr. Kevin Budney and Budney Aerospace for their continued support and fondly remember Judy Budney and her love of dogs."
