Downed Power Line Causes Mayhem In Berlin Neighborhood

BERLIN, CT — Berlin's four volunteer fire companies responded to a reported structure fire on Middletown Road Tuesday evening, but firefighters determined the incident was caused by a downed power line rather than a fire inside the home.

According to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched after a report of a structure fire and wires arcing on the roof of a residence.

When firefighters arrived, they found a downed power line.

After investigating, crews determined there was no fire extension into the home.

Middletown Road was closed for a short time while Eversource responded to clear the electrical hazard.

No injuries were reported.
