Dumping Your Leaves In Berlin, What You Need To Know
The Town of Berlin has unveiled the procedures and schedule folks must follow regarding the 2024 fall leaf collection.
BERLIN, CT — The leaves of fall are now in full color and they're causing folks to smile in wonder, an annual rite of a New England autumn.
But the next step isn't so beloved. When the leaves of autumn plummet to the ground.
The Berlin Public Works Department has notified residents about how they can get those pesky leaves out of their yard once they fall.

Town officials recently released their fall, curbside leaf collection dates as leaves will be picked up on or near folks' regular trash collection days and it all starts next week.
They will be picked up: Oct. 28 to Nov 1; Nov. 11 - 15; and Nov. 25 - 29.

Residents wishing to have leaves picked up at the curb must put them in biodegradable
brown paper bags and leave them at the curb on their regular trash day during the specified week.
Plastic bags are not permitted and folks are asked to keep all leaf bags well away from their automated trash container.
Grass clippings, yard waste, and twigs cannot be mixed with leaves.
In addition, the town is warning folks to avoid raking leaves down catch basins/roadside gutters, etc. That, they said, is against the law (violates littering ordinances) and will subject violators to a stiff fine.
Those who wish to dispose of leaves on their own, may bring them to the drop-off area at 19 Town Farm Lane (off Massirio drive), Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. amd on Saturdays from 8: a.m. to noon, and extended Saturday hours October19 and 26, as well as Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All bags and containers must be emptied and removed from the drop-off area inside the
transfer station (19 Town Farm Lane).
The Transfer Station will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving Nov. 28-29.
