E. Dale Akehurst, 89; Retired Mechanic Who Lived in Kensington

E. Dale Akehurst, 89, of Kensington, passed away Sunday (August 16, 2015) at Aaron Manor in Chester.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Bently) Akehurst in 2013.

Born in Hartford, he lived in Kensington since 1967. Dale was a mechanic at Dattco Bus Company until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Kensington United Methodist Church; and was a former volunteer at the South Kensington Fire Department. He and Barbara loved to camp and travel.

Surviving are two sons, Scott Akehurst and his wife Alison of Chester; and Mark Akehurst of Kensington; three loving grandchildren, Matthew, Meaghan and Ellie Akehurst; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Wednesday 1:30 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Tuesday evening 5 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home.
