“Mosaic New Britain: 48 Artists, 48 Hours, 48 Feet.”  From noon on Thursday, June 21, to noon on Saturday, June 23 — 24-7, morning, noon and the middle of the night — a 48-foot mosaic will be built on the YMCA building at 50 High St.

“We wanted to have this public art piece actually created by the public,” said Hannah Hurwitz of Community Central. “We want as much community involvement as possible.”

Performing artists are asked to volunteer, too, to keep the artists and observers entertained during the making of the piece.

The project also needs volunteer managers and other helpers.
