Fire Rips Through East Berlin Church: Reports

Firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze early Friday morning.

BERLIN, CT — Firefighters were at the scene of a blaze at the East Berlin United Methodist Church early Friday morning, according to FOX 61. Crews were alerted to the fire at about 8 a.m. when a neighbor woke up and spotted the flames.

When firefighters arrived, the fire had already extended to the roof. The area had lost power Thursday night, but it wasn't clear if this was related to the fire, according to FOX 61.

The church is located at 139 Main St., and the street was closed due to the fire, according to WFSB 3-TV.

Firefighters from East Berlin and several other area towns were called in to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported.
