Flood-Prone Brooks In Berlin/Newington/New Britain Eyed For Action

A community workshop is slated in New Britain on Wednesday, April 2, to address Webster and Piper Brooks in Berlin/Newington/New Britain.

BERLIN/NEWINGTON/NEW BRITAIN, CT — Berlin, Newington, and New Britain residents are invited to a special forum next week that aims to brainstorm ideas to curb flooding in flood-prone areas.

Specifically, the meeting will address properties along Piper Brook and Webster Brook.

The forum will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at the Alvarium Beer C., Room B-side, 365 John Downey Drive, New Britain.

Currently, the Connecticut Institute for Resilience & Climate Adaptation at the University of Connecticut is studying the Piper Brook and Webster Brook corridors.

It aims to evaluate flood mitigation options, reduce flood hazard risk, and protect life, property, and infrastructure in central Connecticut, particularly in the towns of Newington, Berlin, and New Britain.

The April 2 public workshop will discuss the Piper Brook and Webster Brook Flood Analysis project with the advisory committee behind it.
