Former Mayor of Berlin Passes Away

She served a term as mayor and two terms as deputy mayor of Berlin.

BERLIN, CT — Ida (Mangan) Ragazzi, a lifelong activist and volunteer who served a term as mayor of Berlin, passed away Dec. 7. She was 90.

A 60-year resident of Berlin, Ragazzi served 12 years on the Berlin Board of Finance and 10 years on the Berlin Town Council. She was elected to one term as mayor and a pair of terms as deputy mayor.

In her working career, she spent 28 years with the business office of the Connecticut State Police Department before retiring.

She was married for 50 years to the late Lt. Col. Orlando "Jack" Regazzi of the Connecticut State Police. They had two children, one of whom survives her, as well as three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service was held Monday morning at Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, followed by burial in Wilcox Cemetery.
