Forum On Berlin Senior Center This Week

BERLIN, CT ;- A public forum is planned for September 20, 2018 at 7 PM at the Berlin High School auditorium to discuss a possible Senior/Community Center project.

"At its meeting of September 4, 2018 the Berlin Town Council authorized the Town Manager to apply for a $750,000 State grant to assist in the planning for a new

Senior/Community Center. Berlin Mayor Mark Kaczynski is calling for a public forum in order to start a community conversation about the potential project.

“I have received many calls from citizens both for and against a Senior/Community Center project," Kaczynski said. "People want an opportunity to express their opinions and to make suggestions. I recognized that it will take some time to apply for and secure the State grant and to hire a consulting team but given the level of interest I wanted to give citizens an opportunity to share their ideas so that we can start to gauge community sentiment. I will ask Town staff to give a brief presentation on the project scope and the planning process but most of the meeting will be devoted to listening to opinions of community members.”

This is the first step in the community outreach process for the project. Citizen comments may be also submitted via the Town’s website or sent to the Town Manager’s office.
