Free Trees Available To Children In Berlin

The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is teaming up with a national nonprofit to provide free trees to local children this Earth Day.

BERLIN, CT — Borrowing materials at the library is free, but the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library this year is about to have another freebie ... and this one doesn't have to be returned.

The library this week announced that it is partnering with "Neighborhood Forest,"a national nonprofit with a very simple premise: give children trees.

Of course, the overall charge is more than that.

"We will contact you to pick up your tree at the library when it arrives," wrote the library.

Sign-ups are open now through March 15 and trees will arrive the week of Earth Day, which is April 22.

Neighborhood Forest provides species on a state-to-state basis, and the trees are different every year. Species will be announced at the beginning of April.
