Jeremy Race Named Chief Operating Officer of Junior Achievement of Southwest New England
Berlin native continues effective leadership and commitment to advancing students' financial literacy and workforce readiness.
Junior Achievement of Southwest New England today announced the appointment of Jeremy Race as chief operating officer, effectively immediately. Race, who joined the JA staff in 2002, was promoted from vice president, development, a position he held since 2012.
In this newly created role as chief operating officer, he will oversee the program and development teams and will continue to report to Lou Golden, JA’s president and chief executive officer.
“Both the JA board of directors and I have confidence in Jeremy’s leadership abilities and spirit of collaboration. He has deep passion for the JA mission and has demonstrated a remarkable focus on serving our customers and achieving results since joining JA nearly 13 years ago,” Golden said. “He and I will work together to ensure the organization achieves its ambitious goals for the future.”

Race is a native of Berlin, Conn., and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. He also earned a Master of Education degree from Central Connecticut State University. He now resides in Rocky Hill.
After joining the JA staff, he served as a district manager, providing JA programs, first in southeastern Connecticut and later in central Connecticut, before being named director of development in 2007. He was promoted to vice president five years later.

Based in Hartford with an office in New Haven, Junior Achievement of Southwest New England worked with more than 2,500 volunteers last year - business professionals, parents, retirees, and college students – in offering JA financial education programs to 33,000 students in nearly 150 schools in 49 communities throughout Hartford, New Haven, Middlesex, Litchfield, Windham, Tolland, and New London counties. The support of leading local businesses and individuals is indispensable in furthering JA’s work with local schools throughout the region.
