Cheryl Ann Diaz-Sturtevant, 54, of Kensington, returned home on Thanksgiving Day Thursday November 27, 2014.

Cheryl was born in New Britain, CT. and was the daughter of Angel Diaz and his wife Ada of Southington, CT and her late mother Patricia M. Diaz.

She graduated from CCSU magna cum laude with a Master’s Degree in counseling. Cheryl, was a lover of animals, music, life and her fellow humans. Cheryl, a genuine friend was one of a kind with strong faith and a generous heart.

Cheryl is survived by her two beloved daughters - Shawna Sullivan and her husband Aaron Hawkins of New Britain, CT. and Samantha Sullivan and her fiancé Brian Myska of Berlin, CT., her four grandchildren – Aysia and Isaiah Garcia and Isaac and Shayna Hawkins, her brother Ralph Diaz of New Britain, CT., her sister Jacqueline Straughn of New Britain, CT. and several nieces, nephews, friends and of course her beloved pets.

Cheryl heads home to be greeted by her late mother Pat Diaz and late husband David Sturtevant. Cheryl has said “Christians never say goodbye, see you on the other side.”

A Celebration of Cheryl’s Life will be held Friday December 5, 2014 at 5p.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave. New Britain, CT. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Friday from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 East or West – Exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) right off exit – one mile down on right.
