Berlin's hearing comes as the town, like many othes in the state, are weighing options on whether it wants to allow retail sales of legalized recreational marijuana within its borders.

Some communities support the measure along economic development lines, saying it represents an opportunity for significant tax revenue.

Critics, however, worry about the societal impacts of having legal pot accessible within their community's borders and whether that is something desired by locals.

Thursday's hearing is the public's chance to weigh in to Berlin leaders on the idea.
