Library Elevator Project Nearing Fundraising Goal in Berlin
A little over $10,000 remains to be raised prior to the Nov. 1 deadline for a state grant.

BERLIN, CT — With about two and a half months remaining before a Nov. 1 deadline, all but a little over $10,000 has been raised to fund the installation of an elevator at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, the Berlin Citizen reported.
The library received a $125,000 grant from the state, with the understanding that the amount would be matched by Nov. 1. Fundraising efforts to date have raised all but $10,025 of the required amount.
An elevator in the lower level entrance would negate the need for patrons to negotiate a fairly steep hill to the upper level, and would also bring the library into compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
