Man Killed In Head-On Crash In Berlin: Police

The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to the hospital following the Thursday afternoon accident.

BERLIN, CT — A 67-year-old New Britain man was killed in a two-vehicle, head-on crash in Berlin Thursday afternoon.

The Berlin Police Department identified the victim as Ronald Procko, 67, of New Britain.

According to the BPD, at about 3:42 p.m. Thursday, responders were called to the area of 221 Christian Lane for a report of a two-vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, police determined one of the vehicles crossed the center line and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle, police said.

Both drivers were rushed to an area hospital, with one initially sustaining life-threatening injuries and the other non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, with the Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad being called in to assist.

As a result of the accident, Christian Lane was closed between Route 9 and Deming Road as authorities investigated.
