Tyszka replaces Kimberly McNally who served as library director from June 2021 until this month.
“I am delighted to hand over leadership of this wonderful library to Carrie Tyszka. It has been a gift to be part of this community over the last two and a half years and I am excited to see Carrie take on this role," McNally said.
"She helped lead this library through the pandemic, stepped in as interim director when the previous director retired, and tirelessly advocated on behalf of this community and library. Berlin is so very lucky to have her at the helm.”
The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library recently completed its strategic plan that will guide the library through 2026.
“I am very excited to begin my next chapter at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library. This library has held an important place in my heart since my very first day, 23 years ago. I feel lucky to embark upon a new role in a place that I love, with coworkers I admire and a community I know," Tyszka said.
"I am committed to building upon the strong foundation that has already been laid and to finding new and innovative ways to serve our patrons, guided by our new strategic plan.”
The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library serves a community of approximately 20,000 and offers books, media, databases, internet access, a Library of Things, and programs for all ages.
