Officer Killed in Line of Duty Remembered in Berlin
There has been only one Berlin police officer killed while in the performance of his duties, more than 30 years ago.

BERLIN, CT - More than 30 years after he was killed by a drunk driver, Berlin police officer Jeffrey Casner was remembered Wednesday at a yearly ceremony at his gravesite in Maple Cemetery, the Hartford Courant reported.
Casner was directing traffic at an accident site on Route 5 when he was struck and killed by a Meriden man, Alton Hepp, on Feb. 2, 1985. Casner was just 22 years old.
Hepp, who was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, was himself killed in a motorcycle crash in Litchfield later that year.
