UPDATE: 23-Year-Old Man Killed By Train Identified: Berlin PD
The incident happened late Tuesday afternoon.
BERLIN, CT β Local police have identified a 23-year-old man killed after being hit by a passenger train late Tuesday afternoon.
The Berlin Police Department Wednesday afternoon identified the victim as being Bristol resident Amani Abele Ashley.
The Amtrak Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.

According to Berlin police, the BPD started getting calls at about 5:26 p.m. Tuesday regarding a reported incident on the train tracks adjacent to Kensington Road near its intersection with Surrey Lane.
" Upon arrival officers found that a pedestrian walking south on the train tracks had been struck by a CT Rail Train that was traveling south," police said in a statement later Tuesday night.

According to the BPD, officers found the victim with serious life-threatening injuries and began emergency care, but the man was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Police said witnesses reported hearing the train operator sounding the horn continuously just prior to the collision.
The BPD said the victim was a 24-year-old male and his identification was being withheld pending notification of the family.
Police responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation into the fatal collision.
