I am not posting this to start any arguments or personal attacks but to spread awareness in hopes that no one else goes through this. Anyone is more than welcome to message me if they would like more specific details.
This past Friday I had to argue with our local Animal Control to get my own cat back that they had ready to be adopted out to another family at Petsmart. Luckily a neighbor recognized him and gave me a call.
My animals are all microchipped for their own safety and my peace of mind.

My cat was NOT scanned, held since Thanksgiving and not posted in the Berlin Citizen until this past Thursday on the back of the last page. I had to pay fees to have him released back to me and was beyond disrespected multiple times. I called mid November around when he started to not come back home and was assured all animals are scanned upon pick up so it became a waiting game and, to be honest, I just assumed something happened to him as that is a risk I take having an indoor/outdoor cat.
I do have him back, finally, but do not wish this upon anyone. A complaint was filed with the town and I'm hoping just spreading the word will help prevent anything like this from happening again in the future. The system failed me and I nearly lost my animal as a result.

Again, I am more than willing to share specific details if anyone would like, and I am sugar coating this post absolutely 100%, but I truly just don't want anyone to deal with what I had to. Human or not: animals are a part of your family.
