Rash of Vehicle Burglaries Plaguing Berlin
Thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles and stealing items from inside, and in some cases, the vehicles themselves, according to police.

BERLIN, CT β A rash of car breaks and thefts have been occurring in Berlin over the past five weeks, prompting a reminder from local police about locking vehicles.
The thefts have been taking place during overnight hours involving unlocked cars. To this point, locked vehicles have not been affected, Deputy Chief John Klett said.
Unlocked cars are being ransacked and valuables taken, and if keys are left in the vehicle, the vehicle is stolen. In the past five weeks, a total of 27 cars were entered and rummaged through.

Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and not to leave anything of value in them at night. The best way to avoid being a victim of this type of crime is to lock your homes and vehicles. Residents are also urged to report any suspicious activity they see, particularly during hours of darkness, Klett said.
The Police Department phone number is 860-828-7080, or in an emergency dial 911.
