Recount Triggered In Aresimowicz Race
A razor-thin margin in the state House race has triggered an automatic recount.

BERLIN, CT - The 30th District state House race between Democratic Speaker Joe Aresimowicz and Republican challenger Michael Gagliardi is subject to a recount, according to Town of Southington officials. The margin is within 59 votes, which means the recount is automatic.
The district includes Berlin and parts of Southington.

Gagliardi entered the race only a couple of weeks before Election Day but is currently trailing by only 37 votes. The tally stands at 5,892 votes for Aresimowicz and 5,855 for Gagliardi.
Gagliardi entered the race because college student and candidate Steve Baleshiski dropped out of the race following controversial social media posts, one of which targeted survivors of the Parkland school shooting.
