Sophie Grazious: Berlin Resident Who Loved to Cook

Mrs. Grazious passed away Oct. 8 at the age of 95.

Sophie (Petro) Grazious, 95, of Berlin, wife of the late Fiore Grazious, passed away on Thursday, October 8th in New Britain.

She was born on August 14, 1920 in Scranton, PA and was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Shimko) Petro.

Sophie was a parishioner of St. Paul Church, Kensington.

Sophie enjoyed bingo, occasional trips to the casino, weekly shopping trips, and her sweet treats. She loved to cook, enjoyed good food, and loved to laugh. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Sophie is survived by three daughters, Jean Ann Vaillancourt and her husband Richard of New Hampshire, Ellen Walton of Vernon and Linda Polman and her husband Robert of Berlin; a sister Amelia Macheska of Pennsylvania. She was the loving grandmother of five adoring grandchildren; Valerie Clark, Jason Walton, Richard DiStefano, David DiStefano, and Kayla Polman, seven great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicolette, Allison, Nicolle, Vincent, Evan, and Mia.

She was pre-deceased by two sons-in-law, Vincent DiStefano and Edward Walton.

She was also so fond of her special grand-dog, Toby.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. from the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Kensington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church, Kensington at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m.
