State Rep Nominated to Run for Seventh Term in 30th District

Joe Aresimowicz was unanimously endorsed by Democratic delegates from Berlin and Southington.

BERLIN, CT - Six-term incumbent Rep. Joe Aresimowicz accepted unanimous endorsement of the delegates to the Democratic Convention of the 30th Assembly District, covering Berlin and Southington, Tuesday night at The Pine Loft in Berlin.

“I am honored to accept the nomination to run for my seventh term as state representative,” Aresimowicz said in a written statement. “It is an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Berlin and Southington. I truly enjoy fighting for the issues and policies that matter most to our community, and I am eager to continue that work on behalf of my constituents.”

“It’s great to have someone like Joe advocating for us in Hartford,” said Berlin Democratic Committee member Christine Fairwood. “He fights for our community, and he fights for issues that support women all across the state. Supporting initiatives that helping women veterans gain access to services, and support victims of domestic violence make me proud to call him my state representative.”

“Joe has done an exceptional job as our state representative,” said Southington Board of Education member Dave Derynoski. “Not only has he continuously stood up for public school education funding, but he always makes a point to meet with educators from the community whenever there is a policy or issue that may affect our teachers or the school system as a whole.”

Aresimowicz was first elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 2004 and currently serves as House Majority Leader. In his capacity as Majority Leader, Aresimowicz was essential to ensuring bills that are important and beneficial to Connecticut residents were passed. When re-elected, he will assume the position of the Speaker of the House.

A Berlin native and resident, Aresimowicz served three terms on the Berlin Town Council prior to becoming a state legislator. He works as an Education Coordinator for AFSCME Council 4 and is the head coach for Berlin High School’s varsity football team.
