State Tournament Play to Open for Berlin

BERLIN, CT — Cross country is over, swimming brackets will be announced later this week and football still has three games to go, but four other sports begin their state tournaments over the next three days, with three involving teams from Berlin High School.

Listed in order of better seeds, here is the upcoming tournament schedule for Redcoat teams:

• boys soccer (L): No. 24 Notre Dame-West Haven at No. 9 Berlin, Mon., 11/6, 2 p.m.
• girls volleyball (M): No. 18 Berlin at No. 15 Jonathan Law, Mon., 11/6, 6 p.m.
• girls soccer (M): No. 20 Berlin at No. 13 East Catholic, Tues., 11/7, 2 p.m.

Here are the records for those teams in state championship game history:

• boys soccer: no appearances
• girls volleyball: 0-1
• girls soccer: 1-0 (last title, 1998)
