There's a New Cafe Open in Berlin's Ferndale Plaza

An official ribbon cutting was held this week at Victoria's Café where breakfast and lunch is offered daily.

Veteran restaurant owners Wedad and Lazaros Hatzisavvas have opened a new eatery in town.

Victoria’s Café recently opened in the Ferndale Plaza on Chamberlain Highway in the Kensington neighborhood of Berlin. The restaurant is owned and operated by Wedad with her daughter Victoria and son Zacharias. Her husband Lazaros owns and operates Superior Pizza in Bristol.

According to Wedad Hatzisavvas “Our families have been successful in the restaurant business for several generations. Between Lazaros’ family and mine we own six different food businesses. I have always wanted to have a place of my own and to operate it with my children so this is a dream is come true.”

Victoria’s Café is set up in the space previously occupied by the Kensington Café.

“We are well acquainted with Sharon and Dave Catlin, who originally opened Kensington Café at this location 10 years ago. When the space recently became available some advisors told us that it was not visible enough. I see the location as secluded, a perfect place for friends and neighbors gather together. We jumped at the opportunity to reopen this lovely spot,” Hatzisavvas explains.

Wedad also said, “It is my intension to provide a good value product in a clean and friendly environment. We will serve breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. Once we become more established I will serve special luncheons and meals daily. I love to cook and look forward to establishing local favorites with our customers. I hope folks will come and visit us.” She added, “ We are interested in hearing their impression and suggestions. This type of business is all about the customers. Our families have succeeded for many years by recognizing the importance of customer service. Now it’s my turn to follow that mantra to build a thriving business.”

Berlin Mayor Rachel Rochette attended the ribbon cutting. She said, “I was delighted to learn that an experienced restaurant family had reopened the Café in Ferndale Plaza. I wish great success to Wedad, Victoria and Zacharias in their new venture.”
