Voters To Flex Budgetary Muscle In Berlin
The annual budget vote is slated for Tuesday, April 25, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at local poll sites.

BERLIN, CT — Local voters next week will, perhaps, be able to exercise their greatest power at the polls as they will vote Friday on the Town of Berlin's municipal/education spending plan for next fiscal year.
The annual budget vote is slated for Tuesday, April 25, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at local poll sites.
The combined budget stands at $100.64 million and includes funding for all municipal operations, from town hall to the school system.

The budget vote is comprised of two separate questions, one for municipal operations and one for Berlin School System operations, which is $50,555,071.
In addition, the referendum includes advisory questions for both budgets as to whether "no" voters think the budgets are too high or too low.

Because of the recently completed property tax revaluation, the tax impact for thte spending plan is based on new assessments.
Generally speaking, town officials said the homeowners' financial burden will increase following the revaluation, though specific tax increases expected depend on the new values of individuals' property.
The referendum will be from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all Berlin polling sites, which include:
• District 1 Emma Hart Willard School, 1088 Norton Road, Kensington.
• District 2 Mary E. Griswold School, 133 Heather Lane, Kensington.
• District 3 Richard D. Hubbard School, 139 Grove St., East Berlin, CT
• Citizens qualified to vote who are not electors shall vote at Berlin Town Hall, Room 104, 240 Kensington Road.
