NEW BRITAIN, CT — A well-known central Connecticut meat market isn't going out of business, but it is shutting down its retail operations.
Catanzaro Quality Meats, located at 550 Farmington Ave., New Britain, announced via Facebook recently it is closing its retail store.
The store, according to the company's Facebook page, has been open for 83 years.

"Thank you to all of our loyal customers for their patronage and friendship. It has been a good run," wrote the meat market's owners via social media.
The company was quick to point out it will still be selling its goods wholesale.
Catanzaro's wholesale operations will continue to serve restaurants, delis, markets and other institutions.

A long list of Facebook commenters wished them well, many saying they were regulars there for decades and some, even, comparing the store's friendly atmosphere to the classic Boston bar on the TV classic "Cheers."
