William S. Norton Jr., 87; World War II Veteran; Kensington Resident Who Enjoyed Vegetable Gardening, Walks in the Mountains

Calling hours and the funeral service are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21.

William S. Norton Jr., 87, of Kensington, loving husband of Corrine (Gregory) Norton, died Monday (February 16, 2015) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain.

Born in Kensington, son of the late William S. Norton Sr. and the late Frances (Barrett) Norton, he graduated from Berlin High School, served in the US Navy in WWII, and was employed at Corbin-Russwin until his retirement.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post #10732 and the Berlin Republican Town Committee, and he loved his vegetable garden and his many mountain walks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William S. Norton III and his wife Theresa of Kensington, and Brian and Jillian Norton of Newington, two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Kenneth Mousch of Plainville, and Diane and Salvatore Barone of West Hartland, a sister, Barbara Hannon of Niantic, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Saturday (February 21, 2015) at 11am at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington. Burial with full military honors will be held in West Lane Cemetery, Kensington, at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday (February 21, 2015) from 10-11am.
