1,300+ Drug Overdoses In CT Emergency Rooms Over 2 Months
Hospitals treated more than 1,300 suspected drug overdoses in January and February.
HARTFORD, CT — Emergency rooms across Connecticut treated 1,317 suspected drug overdoses during January and February this year, according to preliminary estimates from the state Department of Public Health.
Data is being made available through a new DPH project in order to respond quickly to drug overdose patterns.
The data could help to understand what types of opioids including fentanyl and associated substances are being used in suspected overdoses, said DPH Commissioner Dr. Raul Pino.

“Having this level of real-time data will allow state, local and community partners to more effectively and rapidly respond to the opioid crisis," he said.
Eventually DPH will have data on a town-by-town basis.
